Letter 3 - Nov 2011

Kim’s Academy of Dance

Dear Parents,

Our Christmas show will be held on Friday, December 16th, at Samuel-de-Champlain School.  To ensure there is room for all friends and family to have an opportunity to see the show, we will be having two shows that evening, one at 6:15PM and the second one at 8:00PM.  All children will be participating in both shows.  Tickets are $5.00 per person and will go on sale beginning on December 1st. 

 

The letter that went home prior asking for approximate numbers of tickets required was NOT an order form.

 

There will be a couple of extra practices for this Christmas show at the west-side studio

Saturday, December 3rd, from 1:00PM to 3:00PM

Sunday, December 11th, from 5:30PM to 7:30PM

 

We are looking for volunteers to help out at the two shows.  If you are available to help out with one of them, please let Kim know.

 

For the Christmas show your child will need:

Dance will be done for the Christmas Break following the Christmas Show on Dec 16th,

and classes will resume beginning on Wednesday, January 4th at regular class times.

Letter 2 - Oct/Nov 2011

Kim’s Academy of Dance

We are placing an order for “Kim’s Academy of Dance” hooded sweatshirts this year. They will be different from the previous ones. We will have sizers available for students to try on. If you wish to order one, a $25 deposit must be paid by November 30th. The company we are dealing with has confirmed that the sweatshirts would be in before Christmas.

First costume deposit of $25/class is due November 1st (so if your child is taking 3 classes…3 x $25 = $75 would be due). The costume deposit is non-refundable.

We are concerned about our Christmas Concert this year as we filled the seats last year, and our school has grown this year. We are asking for your help…please return the bottom of this sheet back to your teacher to let us know (approximately) how many tickets you think you will need. The show is only a little over an hour long and if need be we will hold two performances on the same evening to accommodate all family and friends that would like to see it.

Reminder to students (especially Hip Hop) to bring water to drink…it gets very warm. Also, please dress appropriately…Hip Hop Students…NO LONG PANTS, Capri length maximum.

Any dancers that performed in DanceQuest 2010…your videos are here. Please be sure to ask for your copy.

When driving to the back of the building, please be sure to enter the drive way on the right side of the building (1st drive way), and exit on the left side of the building (by large parking lot).

Grand Bay- letter 1 - Oct 2011

Grand Bay Parents,

Welcome to all of our dancers, new comers and returnees!

Classes have begun as of October 5th…we have a great group of kids!

A few reminders:

Parents, please get into the habit of making sure your child has gone to the washroom before class (especially the 6:00PM Tap class) it takes time away from class and it only takes one child to start a chain of needing to go to the washroom.

PLEASE --- NO OUTSIDE SHOES ARE TO BE WORN INSIDE THE ROOM – PARENTS OR CHILDREN. Please remove them at the door, the dirt and wet get tracked inside and the children end up sitting or falling in it.

Tap shoes should have elastics on them so the children can slip them on and off easily (tying ribbons is time consuming).

The first class (TAP) is 6:00 to 6:45PM, and we are doing tap only, there is not enough class time to do Jazz in addition.

HIP HOP Dancers – please wear shorts, leggings, or capri’s….no long pants. Please be sure they bring a drink with them, they work hard!

If anyone has outgrown their sneakers from last year and you would like to sell them, please let me know.

Reminder that all payments are due on the 1st of the month or Post Dated cheques dated for the 1st or 15th of every month. If you are paying in cash, please put it in an envelope or baggie with your child’s name on it. A year-end receipt will be given for tax purposes.

The bulletin board is for us, so if you missed a week, please be sure to check the board for any missed information or notices.

Welcome to all of our dancers, new comers and returnees!

Hope you had a great summer. Welcome to our new location. It is going to take a few weeks to get into the swing of things.

A few reminders:

- Please remove ALL outdoor footwear before entering the studios.

- Parents, please get into the habit of making sure your child has gone to the washroom before class (it takes time away from class)

- Be sure to label ALL dance shoes

All dancers should have the proper footwear for all types of dance they are taking by November 1st. We do have a few pairs of Second Hand shoes for sale and if you have any shoes that your child has outgrown that you would like to sell, please put them in a zip lock baggie with your name and price you want to sell them for and we will try to sell them for you.

If you choose to drive to the back of the building, please be sure to enter the drive way on the right side of the building (1st drive way), and exit on the left side of the building (by large parking lot). We don’t want any accidents to occur and we would like to maintain a smooth pick up and drop off process. PLEASE NO PARKING IN THE ON THE LANE AROUND THE BUILDING. It is a Fire Lane and needs to be kept open at all times.

All students must be picked up by a parent or guardian. No student will be able to leave alone, unless you provide a permission slip.

We are off to a great start!  Hope everyone is having fun!
